PITTVILLE PLACE CHARITY ART COMPETITION OPEN TO ALL

18 July 2008

Pittville Place

Broadway Heritage plc, developer of Pittville Place, Pittville Park in Cheltenham, is sponsoring a summer ‘Pittville Place Charity Art Competition’ for the members of the Cheltenham Art Society, the Gloucestershire Society of Artists and members of the public interested in architectural subjects.

Broadway is committed to the patronage of emerging and local artists in the communities where their developments are located and Cheltenham is no exception.  The winner of the Pittville Place Charity Art Competition will receive a cash prize of £200, and an additional £250 to donate to a charity of their choice. Two Highly Commended entrants will each receive a cheque for £100.

Entrants are being invited to focus their talent on painting a 'portrait' of the handsome façade of either Albert House or Victoria House at Pittville Place. These unique Regency-style apartment buildings contain 16 two- and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes, sensitively designed to suit the Georgian park-side context. The majestic stature of the buildings with their seamless views over neighbouring Grade II Listed Pittville Park, make an attractive subject for artist with an architectural eye.

Michael Hodges, Broadway's Managing Director said: "Pittville Place, Pittville Park is a fittingly striking addition to the neighbouring townscape fulfilling the vision of Pitt for a community of pleasing park-side villas. Pittville Place combines the best of 21st-century low carbon footprint building technology with Regency-styling – offering high ceilings, generous room sizes and first-class kitchens and bathrooms. The sensitive landscaping ticks all the right boxes for the immediate neighbours, too.”

“The Art Society is already taking up this artistic challenge so we hope that members of the public will enter as well. The winning entry will be put on permanent display at Pittville Place.

This building project has taken eighteen months to construct so to have an artistic rendition of the end result will be a fitting tribute to the work of all those involved in bringing it to reality."

Each entrant is able to submit one entry in the medium of their choice - oils, acrylics, watercolour, mixed media, pastels, charcoal, pen and ink, embroidery or collage.

Closing date for entries is 4 pm on Friday 29th August. Those wishing to enter the competition should visit www.pittvilleplace.com for more information or email/telephone Sally Davis for competition details on sd@broadwayplc.com  Tel 023 9266 1700.
