Cheltenham Racecourse MD officiates at Pittville Place, Cheltenham Housewarming on Saturday 25th October

Pittville Place, Pittville Park, Cheltenham marked its Housewarming Celebrations on, Saturday 25th October.  Mr Edward Gillespie, Managing Director of Cheltenham Race Course, was guest of honour at the occasion and, to commemorate the day, planted a flowering tree in the Pittville Place gardens overlooking Pittville Park.

Pittville Place comprises two majestic, Regency-style, new-build apartment buildings - Victoria House and Albert House.

In addition to the tree planting, Mr Gillespie presented the prizes to the winners of the Pittville Place Charity Art Competition. The competition was run in August and all 3 prizes were won by members of the Cheltenham Art Society.

First prize went to Evelyn Howson for her sensitive portrait of Pittville Place – she was presented with a cheque for £200 and a further £250 for a charity of her choice - Sightsavers.

First Highly Commended went to Bob Gower who won a cheque for £100 (received on his behalf by Hazel Kitchin, Chair of Cheltenham Art Society) and Second Highly Commended went to Carolyn Ward for her cheerful and colourful portrait of the development. Carolyn also received £100.

The Housewarming Celebrations took place in Apartment 15 of Victoria House and over 70 guests attended. These included Andy Trevillion of the architects Stiff and Trevillion; Simon Williams of contractors, Building Solutions; and Martin Portus of landscape architects, Whitton Associates.

New residents at Pittville Place attended as did Pittville neighbours and Tom Banwell of sales agents Knight Frank, and Stuart Morgan of letting agents, Morgan Associates. Bob Davison, Head of Fine Art at the University of Gloucester was also present, having been a judge of the recently held Charity Art Competition. Hazel Kitchin, Chair and her fellow members of the Cheltenham Art Society were also present to great success in the Charity Art Competition.

Michael Hodges of Broadway Heritage Plc, the developers of Pittville Place, said: “We were delighted to have had an opportunity to bring so many of the people together to celebrate what has been achieved. Pittville Place was once just a dream and is now a reality which, we have been told by local people, adds style and modernity to the Pittville Park landscape whilst retaining the sparse style and stature of Regency architecture. It has been an honour to have Edward Gillespie here today. We hope that the recipients of our gift to him of £1000, the Riding for the Disabled’s Cotswold Group, will greatly benefit from the funds.”

The development by Broadway Heritage plc took 18 months to construct and has been sensitively designed to fulfill Joseph’s Pitt’s 200-year-old vision of a series of stylish park-side villas. Of the 16 homes, 10 are now sold or under offer. The balance is available for sale or rental. Sales prices start at £469,950 and rentals at £1,100pcm.
